The old man had died several days ago and his house was empty. The house was a dilapidated structure, its wooden walls rotting. It stood in a hollow surrounded by oaks in a remote mountain laurel. It had been built before any of the trees around it had grown.
Dream Sequence 7: Dungeons & Dragons’ Crap
The chamber was cavernous, lit with burning torches spaced evenly along the walls. A musty mix of rot and death hung in the air. The voices of dozens of orcs and goblins rang against the walls, echoing down the corridor in which we now stood.
Dream Sequence 6: Leap of Faith
The stones here were old. Older than any stones she had ever seen. She walked the narrow moss covered path, between the ancient stones and into the light. Just past the final pair of monolithic stones was the edge of a cliff. It was a sacrificial cliff, one upon which the faith of countless before her had been judged. She had seen the old and scattered broken bones at the bottom of the cliff, but she wouldn’t be here now if she didn’t believe.
Dream Sequence 5: The Boundary
The hills were covered with grass all the way to the horizon. Near the horizon, the green of the grass met the blue of the ocean. It rustled in the sea breeze. I did not recognize this place.
Dream Sequence 4: Ancient Portal
“4:13. We have five minutes!” Danny shouted.
“I’m in front of the door,” Xenia replied from below.
Danny carefully rappelled down the ancient stone edifice, its surface covered with faded pictograms. They would have a brief window of time to enter the treasure room.
