Samsung may be preparing a new member for its flagship Galaxy S lineup, and if the latest leaks are accurate, the Galaxy S27 Pro could be one of the most interesting Samsung phones in years.
The biggest surprise? It reportedly takes much of the Galaxy S27 Ultra’s design and hardware, but puts it into a smaller body without an S Pen.
Samsung Could Be Adding a Galaxy S27 Pro
For years, Samsung’s flagship lineup has generally revolved around the standard Galaxy S, Plus and Ultra models.
The Galaxy S27 Pro could change that.
Leaked renders suggest Samsung is considering a lineup consisting of the Galaxy S27, S27+, S27 Pro and S27 Ultra, with the Pro sitting between the Plus and Ultra.
And unlike the regular S27, the Pro reportedly gets a much more dramatic redesign.
The Camera Design Is the Big Story
The most eye-catching change is on the back.
Samsung may finally abandon the familiar vertically arranged camera design on its premium models and replace it with a wide horizontal camera plateau.
Yes — it looks surprisingly similar to the camera design used on Apple’s recent Pro iPhones.
Leaked renders show the Galaxy S27 Pro adopting essentially the same design language as the rumored S27 Ultra, while the regular S27 is expected to retain a more familiar vertical camera arrangement.
That could make the S27 Pro instantly recognizable.
It Could Basically Be a Smaller Ultra
This is where things get interesting.
The Galaxy S27 Pro is reportedly expected to share much of the Ultra’s hardware and design, but in a more compact package.
Current leaks point toward a 6.6-inch display, compared with a rumored 6.9-inch screen on the S27 Ultra. The Pro could measure around 154.06 × 73.77 × 7.95mm.
In other words, Samsung may be targeting people who want flagship-level hardware without carrying the biggest Galaxy phone.
And There May Be No S Pen
There’s one major difference between the Pro and Ultra.
The S Pen.
Leaked renders reportedly show no dedicated S Pen slot on the Galaxy S27 Pro. That could be one of the easiest ways for Samsung to differentiate the two models.
For people who never use the stylus, that might actually be a good thing.
A 5,200mAh Battery Could Be Coming
The Galaxy S27 Pro is also rumored to feature a 5,200mAh battery.
That’s smaller than the battery expected in the Ultra, but still substantial for a phone with a 6.6-inch display.
Some reports also suggest Samsung could use next-generation silicon-carbon battery technology, although these details remain far from confirmed.
The Cameras Could Be Seriously Powerful
Early leaks point toward a camera setup that could be very close to the Ultra.
One reported configuration includes:
200MP main camera
50MP ultrawide
12MP 3x telephoto
High-end front camera
However, the exact telephoto hardware remains uncertain. Some reports suggest the Ultra could retain a more capable 5x telephoto system that the Pro wouldn’t get.
So the Pro could deliver much of the Ultra camera experience without completely replacing the Ultra.
Snapdragon or Exynos?
The processor situation is also interesting.
Leaks have pointed toward Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship Snapdragon chip, while Samsung could reportedly use its Exynos 2700 in certain markets.
RAM configurations of 12GB and 16GB have also been mentioned, with storage options potentially reaching 1TB.
But these specifications are still rumors.
Samsung’s Strategy Could Be Changing
If the leaks are accurate, Samsung appears to be creating something that has been missing from its lineup:
A smaller phone with Ultra-level ambitions.
The regular S27 could remain the mainstream option.
The S27+ could continue as the larger balanced model.
The S27 Pro could target users who want premium hardware in a smaller body.
And the S27 Ultra could remain Samsung’s no-compromise flagship with the S Pen and its most advanced camera system.
That’s actually a pretty compelling lineup.
But Don’t Start Selling Your Current Galaxy Yet
There’s an important catch.
Samsung has not officially announced the Galaxy S27 Pro.
Everything currently available comes from leaks, CAD renders and reports from tipsters and publications. Even last year’s reports about a potential Galaxy S26 Pro ultimately didn’t result in an actual product.
The Galaxy S27 family is expected to arrive in early 2027, so Samsung has plenty of time to change its plans.
The Bottom Line
If these leaks are accurate, the Galaxy S27 Pro could be the most interesting new Galaxy model in years.
A smaller Ultra-style phone, a huge camera redesign, flagship hardware and no S Pen could make it the Galaxy that many users have been waiting for.
